# Identities API overview

> Bastion identities represent individuals and businesses that undergo compliance verification and can own multiple accounts, each with distinct wallet addresses.

An **identity** in Bastion represents a distinct entity, either an *individual* or a *business*, that undergoes compliance verification. A single identity can have multiple associated accounts, each with their own distinct wallet addresses.
