KYC and KYB requirements

Overview

To use Bastion’s custodial wallets and access on/off-ramp conversions, customers must complete Know Your Customer (KYC) or Know Your Business (KYB) verification. Your platform collects this information and submits it to Bastion via the Compliance API.

Individual customers (KYC)

Document types

When submitting identity documents, use the following document type enums:

Individual identity documents (KYC)

Document Type	Description	Requirements
`DOCUMENT_TYPE_PASSPORT`	Provide a valid, non-expired, color copy of the passport. The full photo page must be clearly visible.	Only the front of the ID is required.
`DOCUMENT_TYPE_NATIONAL_ID`	Provide a valid, non-expired, color copy of a National ID document.	Both the front and back of the ID are required.
`DOCUMENT_TYPE_DRIVER_LICENSE`	Provide a valid, non-expired, color copy of a Driver License.	Both the front and back of the ID are required.
`DOCUMENT_TYPE_RESIDENCE_PERMIT`	Provide a valid, non-expired, color copy of a Residence Permit.	Both the front and back of the ID are required.

Business documents (KYB)

Document Type	Description
`DOCUMENT_TYPE_FORMATION`	Provide a valid, signed copy of document confirming entity’s legal existence and authority to operate, such as Articles of Incorporation, Certificate of Formation, Certificate of Organization, or equivalent corporate registration document issued by a government authority.
`DOCUMENT_TYPE_OWNERSHIP`	Provide a current document evidencing the entity’s ownership structure, such as a shareholder chart or entity organization chart. The document should clearly show all direct and, where applicable, indirect owners and their percentage ownership, sufficient to identify all ultimate beneficial owners.
`DOCUMENT_TYPE_SOURCE_OF_FUNDS`	Provide a recent document that demonstrates where the business’s funds are coming from, such as bank statements, tax returns, or audited financial statements. The documentation should clearly show the origin of the funds.

Note: For beneficial owners and authorized representatives in KYB submissions, use the individual identity document types (DOCUMENT_TYPE_PASSPORT, DOCUMENT_TYPE_NATIONAL_ID, DOCUMENT_TYPE_DRIVER_LICENSE or DOCUMENT_TYPE_RESIDENCE_PERMIT).
